Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

What's a habit you have that tends to annoy most people?

-Claire16

A:

Dear Claire,

Being very, very impatient and always needing to be on the go. I can't hold still. I have to be doing something or I just feel...useless. I'm overly-disciplined, so I don't have normal faults like being late, or never checking my e-mail or responding to communications. I'm just incredibly high strung instead.

Dear Basil,

I bounce my leg when I'm anxious. At church it makes the whole bench shake. I try to sit on the chairs in the overflow area so it doesn't affect anyone else.

I know this annoys my family, but if someone is chewing loudly it makes me physically ill, so I have to leave the room. People who don't get that think I'm just being dramatic (I don't announce it, of course, just quietly leave and come back after the loud chewer is done eating). Everyone should chew with their mouth closed.

Dear Claire16,

I never check my voice mail. Never. I can't pinpoint exactly when I stopped, but it just seems like such a chore. My voice mail inbox just fills up and up and every four or five months I'll go through and delete all of it. People have told me, in subsequent phone calls, that it annoys them when they are told they can't leave a voice mail. And yet, I truly can't think of a single way this has negatively impacted my life. #blessed

Dear Claire16,

I whistle. Loudly. And without even realizing it.

Dear Claire16,

I'm late.  To everything.  And I procrastinate everything, too.  This has been a lifelong thing that I've been working on changing since first grade.  Nothing helps.

And it does drive everyone insane, especially with classes/doctor's appointments/lessons/parties/homework assignments/church callings being thrown into the mix.

Dear Claire,

My ADHD seems to manifest itself in that I always have to be doing something with my hands - twirling a pen, tapping something, "air drumming," etc.  I often find myself simply clicking a pen for hours on end.  It drives other people crazy. To be honest, when others do it, I find it irritating to keep hearing the click click click of a pen opening and closing.  This picture pretty much sums it up.

I sure hope this helps.  Please don't hate me.

Dear friend,

I rarely answer my phone or respond to texts, and I'm late to literally everything. It's a problem.

Peace,

Dear Clair16 ~

I talk too much.

A:

Dear Claire,

I drum on everything. It annoys most people, and I don't even realize I'm doing it. Sometimes I feel bad when I realize it, but sometimes I don't. Sometimes (well, rarely) I even do it to annoy people. It just depends.
