Whenever he thought about it, he felt terrible. And so, at last, he came to a fateful decision. He decided not to think about it. ~John-Roger and Peter McWilliams

Q:

Dearest 100 Hour Board,

I just found out that the lead singer of Neon Trees, Tyler Glenn, is Mormon and gay. Is he active in the Church? I read that he grew up LDS and will always identify with Mormons but does he attend church still?

Ciao,
Scarlet Flamingo

A:

Dear Scarlet,

Honestly, it's really hard to tell. According to this article, the band has stated publicly that "they have no close affiliations with their church." That was May 2014. This seems to conflict with the fact that Elaine Bradley, the drummer for Neon Trees, released her "I'm a Mormon" video on Mormon.org in April. And then back in 2012, this article stated that Chris Allen, the lead guitarist, left the Church a couple years ago. With regard to Tyler Glenn specifically though, this article from NPR seems to imply that he's still an active member of the Church. Tyler mentions in the article that he's "figuring out how [his faith and his acceptance of his own sexuality] align." That may be one reason there are so many conflicting reports.

Hobo, with a helpful reminder from Tally M.
