Why can't you remember something when you need to really badly? (I forgot my other real question)

Stress, the answer is stress. Since you "need to really badly" your brain becomes aroused and distracted. In this condition, it becomes harder to recall stored information. This is why people don't do as well on tests, and why you will remember long forgotten information at 3am when you have been asleep and relaxed. The trick is to manage your stress.
